How the courts are organised

Delaware's court system is small and unusually specialised. The Court of Chancery, a separate equity court with no jury, decides corporate and fiduciary disputes and is the reason a large share of American companies are incorporated in the state. The Superior Court handles civil claims for damages and serious crime, and the Delaware Supreme Court hears all appeals. Federal cases fall to the District of Delaware, itself a major patent venue.
