Products liability attorneys represent people injured by defective or dangerous products: vehicles and vehicle components, medical devices and implants, prescription drugs, industrial and power equipment, household appliances, children's products and contaminated food.
Claims are built on three theories — a defect in design, a defect in manufacturing, or a failure to warn. Liability can reach the manufacturer, distributor and retailer, and in many states it does not require proof of negligence at all, only that the product was defective and caused the harm.

Asbestos and mesothelioma claims, and pharmaceutical injury claims, follow their own procedures — see those categories and personal injury for related work.
Strict liability means responsibility without fault. The injured person does not have to prove carelessness or intent — only that the thing happened and caused harm. In the United States it applies mainly to defective products, abnormally dangerous activities, and in many states to dog bites and other animal attacks.
