Derek obtained an A.A.S. in Japanese Culture from Everett Community College and holds a B.S. in Agribusiness from Arizona State University. Derek graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law and has been licensed in Arizona since May 2000.
Early in his career, Derek had the privilege of clerking for Hon. Roger Kaufman (Ret.) and Hon. Cathy Holt (Ret.), where he learned the fundamentals of fairness and professionalism from two well respected judges. He began his profession as a transactional attorney, working for a Martindale Hubbell AV-rated law firm. From there, Derek worked with a mentor who helped him learn the foundations of estate planning. Derek’s primary area of practice includes estate planning (i.e., wills and trusts), probate, as well as business law (i.e., formation, acquisition, and general representation). Derek is a 2nd Amendment advocate who enjoys recreational shooting. He assists his clients with NFA trusts (i.e., gun trusts) and has professional contacts within the firearms industry to assist them with gunsmithing, firearms collections, safaris, etc.
