John J.P. Howley has more than 30 years of experience representing clients in complex healthcare litigation. He is dedicated to protecting the rights of physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in employment disputes and as whistleblowers seeking financial rewards and legal protections.

Mr. Howley spent the first 20 years of his practice at a large law firm representing major pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in their most complex patent, antitrust and product liability litigation. His training included working on litigation involving anti-hypertensives, statins, Cox-2 inhibitors, and monoclonal antibodies. He also represented clients in government investigations and worked with some of the world’s leading medical experts.

Mr. Howley now uses that experience to protect the rights of physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals in employment disputes, including breach of contract, wrongful termination, hostile work environment, and retaliation cases.

He also represents healthcare professionals as whistleblowers to protect the health and safety of patients, prevent fraud, waste and abuse, and obtain whistleblower rewards and protections.

Mr. Howley graduated from Skidmore College and earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from New York Law School, where he was Articles Editor of the Law Review. During law school, he served as an intern to U.S. District Judges Kevin Thomas Duffy and Shira A. Scheindlin. Upon graduation, he served as a law clerk to U.S. Circuit Judge Roger J. Miner on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

He has received the Medal for Excellence in Advocacy from the American College of Trial Lawyers, The Thurgood Marshall Award from the New York City Bar Association, and the Gideon Champion of Justice Award from the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He has also been named one of New York City’s “Super Lawyers.”
