Mr. Conroy’s area of practice is immigration and nationality law. Most of his work involves litigation. He represents detained and non-detained clients in a wide variety of situations before U.S. Immigration Courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and Federal Appellate and District Courts.
With respect to Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals, for example, he represents non-citizens seeking asylum, cancellation of removal, waivers, adjustment of status, and (for detained clients) release on bond. In Federal Courts Mr. Conroy represents clients with regard to petitions for review, direct appeals from federal district court decisions, complaints for declaratory judgement and injunctive relief, mandamus actions, and petitions for habeas corpus.
Mr. Conroy also represents clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services with respect to, among other things, affirmative asylum applications, petitions for immigrant and nonimmigrant visas, applications for adjustment of status and naturalization, and requests for extensions of status and temporary forms of relief.
Prior to his practice as an immigration attorney, Charles R. Conroy was a corporate lawyer working primarily in the area of securities law, both as a regulator and in-house corporate counsel for a multinational financial services company. He also gained experience in commercial litigation, bankruptcy law, and real estate law. As such, his background in finance and corporate law has given him insight into the needs of businesses and their employees who are seeking assistance with employment-based visas and adjustment of status.
Mr. Conroy believes strongly in providing personal service and putting in the time and effort for a successful result. As an immigrant himself, he knows how important it is for his clients to find the security and stability they seek through legal status so that they may move forward with their lives and pursue their own American Dream.
