Joseph Caraccio

I have been practicing law since 2012 after graduating NY Law School. My practice is focused on helping immigrants obtain legal status in the United States, defending those who face removal (deportation), and appellate work at the agency level and in Federal Courts.

I represent clients immigrating or bringing family to the US and many clients that have been living in the US for the majority of their lives but never had legal status, or those in danger of losing their status. My clients find themselves in immigration court for criminal issues ranging from minor traffic infractions to serious felonies involving drug trafficking, money laundering, and even attempted murder or terrorism.

Most of my clients have no criminal record or past immigration violations and are facing immigration issues based solely on the location of their birth.

I am extremely passionate about my work because I believe our Government should treat all people equally regardless of where they were born and the law should not be perverted to allow for the senseless separation or destruction of immigrant families. I was born and raised in New York, a city built by immigrants, and one that proudly displays the 305-foot-tall statue in our harbor celebrating our liberty and welcoming immigrants. I fight hard for my clients so they may have an opportunity to pursue the same American dream.

I volunteer with the Safe Passage Project, providing legal assistance to unaccompanied minors at US/Mexico border. I volunteer with NY Legal Aid doing pro bono legal research for family court matters.

In 2018 & 2019 I was honored to serve as a Judge at the NYU Law International Immigration Moot Court Competition. Touro Law School invited me to be on a p with an Immigration Judge and three law school professors in October 2020 to discuss immigration law. Thomson Reuters named me a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020, for skills, knowledge and reputation in the legal community.
